The purpose in this unit of instruction is to teach methods for implementing and deploying ballistic shields for the patrol officer. The instructions covers special considerations when deploying shields such as reloading, weapon malfunctions, movement, and low light operations.   <BR>After this block of instruction, the student will be able to:<BR>

    1. Define Ballistic Shield
    2. Understand the differences between NIJ levels
    3. Identify different components of issued shields
    4. Deploy ballistic shields with handguns
    5. Understand special considerations
    6. Understand basic principles and movements with a shield
***This class requires Patrol Duty rig/belt and holster.  If students have shields and breaching tools issued to them, bring those tools to train with.***
